Short Bio


Georgios Smaragdos  was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, on July 3rd 1983.  After participating in the national examinations for a university admission, he was admitted to the Technical University of Crete (TUC), in Chania, in the department of Electronics & Computer Engineering (5 year Diploma). The title of his Diploma Thesis was ”Design Of Current Mode CMOS Integrated Filters ” and was concluded  under the supervision of Matthias Bucher.

While working on his Diploma Thesis, in August 2008 he was admitted to the Delft University of Technology (TUD), in the Netherlands, in the MSc program of Computer Engineering. He continued his work of his first diploma Thesis in parallel to the Master studies . He obtained his Master degree from TUD in July 2012. His Master Thesis ( " An Adaptive Defect-Tolerant Multiprocessor Array Architecture ") was completed under the supervision of Yiannis Sourdis and Christos Strydis. He is currently conducting his PhD at the Erasmus MC Neuroscience Dept. under the title "FPGA Brain Modeling" and the supervision of Chris I. de Zeeuw and the co-supervision of Christos Strydis and Yiannis Sourdis. His research interests include Reconfigurable hardware, Computer Architecture, Fault-Tolerant Computing, Scientific Computing and Embedded Systems.
